Day 1: From Marrakech to the Lush Dades Valley

Route: Marrakech → High Atlas Mountains → Ait Benhaddou → Ouarzazate → Skoura Oasis → Roses Valley → Dades Valley

Your adventure begins as we depart from Marrakech, either from your accommodation or a designated meeting point. We’ll leave behind the city’s bustling energy and journey into the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, the highest in North Africa. Along the way, we’ll witness historic kasbahs and fortified granaries of the Glaoua region, offering a window into Morocco’s past.

Our next stop is the UNESCO World Heritage site Ait Benhaddou, one of Morocco’s most famous kasbahs, celebrated for its role in films like Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia and its picturesque architecture. After lunch and a tour of the kasbah’s labyrinthine pathways, we’ll continue to Ouarzazate, also known as “The Hollywood of Morocco,” where the stunning desert landscape has attracted film crews for decades.

As the day winds down, we journey through the lush Skoura Oasis and the fragrant Roses Valley, renowned for its abundant rose fields and local rose-based products. By evening, we arrive in the scenic Dades Valley, surrounded by striking rock formations and verdant fields, where you’ll spend the night in a comfortable hotel or riad.

Day 2: Journey from Dades Valley to the Golden Dunes of Erg Chebbi

Route: Dades Valley → Todra Gorge → Erfoud → Merzouga Dunes (Erg Chebbi)

After breakfast, we set off along the Todra Valley, passing through groves of olive, pomegranate, and orange trees before reaching the stunning Todra Gorge. Take some time to stroll through the gorge’s towering cliffs, marveling at the sheer rock walls that frame the narrow passage.

Continuing south, the terrain gradually transforms as we approach the vast, stony plains of the desert, dotted with palm trees and quaint Berber villages. In the town of Erfoud, famous for its fossils and desert landscapes, we’ll pause before making our way to Merzouga, the gateway to the golden Erg Chebbi dunes of the Sahara.

Upon arrival, we’ll leave any unnecessary luggage safely at a nearby hotel and prepare for our camel trek. Riding through the rolling dunes, we’ll make our way to the heart of the Sahara. After settling into the desert camp, you’ll have time to explore or relax, taking in the endless beauty of the dunes as the sun sets over the sands.

In the evening, a traditional Moroccan dinner is served alongside live Berber music around a campfire. Afterward, you’re free to explore the desert beneath a brilliant starlit sky, with only the soft desert breeze as company. Spend the night in a private tent, surrounded by the tranquility of the Sahara.

Day 3: From Merzouga Back to Marrakech via the Draa Valley

Route: Merzouga → Rissani Souk → N'kob → Tazarine → Draa Valley → Agdez → Marrakech

Wake up early to catch the breathtaking sunrise over the dunes, where the colors of dawn cast a magical glow across the Sahara. After breakfast, we’ll take a short ride back to Merzouga to freshen up before setting out on our return journey.

Our first stop is Rissani, where we’ll visit an authentic local souk, bustling with traditional goods and showcasing the rich culture of this desert town. Continuing through the desert landscape, we’ll pause at N’kob, a village known for its 45 ancient kasbahs, where you can enjoy a coffee with stunning views of the nearby mountains.

We’ll then travel through the expansive Draa Valley, a stretch of fertile oasis lined with date palms and Berber villages, before reaching Agdez, a town known for its strategic location along ancient caravan routes. Here, you’ll have a chance to explore some of the region’s traditional architecture and beautiful scenery.
