Spend a day in Chefchaouen, the blue-painted town in the Rif mountains, without changing hotel. We drive you from Fes through olive groves and hills, you explore the town at your own pace, and we bring you back to Fes in the evening.
About 200 km each way, roughly 3.5 to 4 hours of driving, with stops.
Pickup from your riad or hotel in Fes · Drop-off back in Fes
Around 8:00 AM
A long day with about 7 to 8 hours of driving in total, so it suits travellers short on time. If you can, staying a night in Chefchaouen on one of our northern tours is more relaxed.
We pick you up from your riad or hotel in Fes at 8:00 and drive north out of the city. The road crosses wheat fields and olive groves before climbing into the green foothills of the Rif, with a coffee stop on the way.
We reach Chefchaouen in the late morning. With your driver-guide you walk into the blue medina: stairways and lanes painted in every shade of blue, doorways full of flowers, small workshops of weavers and leather workers. We end at the Outa el-Hammam square, below the red walls of the kasbah and its garden.
Lunch is in a local restaurant (not included); try the goat cheese of the Rif or a tagine. Then you have free time: walk up to the Ras el-Ma spring at the top of the town, where the river comes out of the mountain, or continue on the path to the Spanish Mosque for the view over the blue houses.
We leave Chefchaouen around 16:00 and drive back south through the Rif, with a tea stop on the way. We drop you at your riad or hotel in Fes around 19:30.
